From the appetizer to the entree to the dessert it was all around a great Brazilian Restaurant. The service was great and the atmosphere was enjoyable. My friend had the muqueca and he said it was "divine." We will be back.
Nut allergy friendly: Everything we ordered was safe for me! We stopped in at around 8PM on a Sunday and were luckily seated immediately with a party of 5. Time to Appetizer: ~10 Minutes Time to Entree: ~25 Minutes We weren't too hungry, and ordered: -Brazilian Patties (Cod) (5/5): Perfect sharable appetizer that comes with a sauce with a really nice zesty kick. Like upgraded fish sticks. -Feijoada (4.5/5): The fried plantain was the best part of this dish. Heck, order a few of those separately! Otherwise, this was really enjoyed but quite heavy on beans. It's perfectly sharable in that respect. -Mariscada (5/5): Loved the variety of seafood and it went excellently with rice. It really is a must try. -Kids Menu Chicken Stroganoff (3.5/5): One of my party really wanted it, and the portions are quite generous (she couldn't finish it). I wouldn't come for it but it's not bad! Desserts: -Flan (5/5): Rich, creamy, not too sweet. Definitely worth a try. -Top Hat Banana (3/5): It was unique, but I can't say I'm a fan of cheese with ice cream. Plantain with ice cream, though, fantastic. Overall, a fantastic experience with unique cuisine and excellent service. Would come back again!
Took my friend out for her birthday dinner. The place has a chill atmosphere, and the service was very friendly and attentive. For starters, we had: Fried Yuca with Sausage - this was so, so delicious! The yuca was super crispy on the outside, and paired very nicely with the sausage. Comes with a creamy sauce on the side. Coconut Shrimp - about 5-6 pieces. Nice and crunchy coating. Also comes with a creamy sauce on the side. For main entrees: My boyfriend had the Seafood Pie - "A Delicious Pie Made with Salted Cod, Shrimp, Crabmeat, Mussels, Palm Heart. Topped With Beaten Eggs, Onion and Olives. Serve with Rice and Salad." 8/10 rating I had the Feijoada (Brazilian National Dish) - "Black Beans Stew with Fresh and Dried Meat, Pork, Sausage and Bacon. Served with Collard Greens, Fried Plantain, Farofa and Orange." 10/10 rating My friend had the Stroganoff - Chicken "Mushrooms, Palm Heart, Corn, Milk. Served with Rice and Potato Sticks". 7/10 rating My friend's husband had the Mariscada - "Shrimp, Crabmeat, Mussels and Squid with Cilantro, Tomato, Onion and Coconut Milk. Served with Rice, Farofa and Plantain Moqueca." 10/10 rating Beverages - we tried the Graviola juice. We were told that this citrus fruit is native to Brazil. It was mild - not too sweet or tangy. The main entrees were pretty large size portions (plenty of leftovers). For me, the star of the night was the Fried Yuca with Sausage.
Considering I live in the area, I really had no excuse for waiting so long to check this place out! There's a bunch of Portuguese on Cambridge Street, but this spot is actually Brazilian. Despite coming on a Sunday night, it was actually pretty busy, so that's always a good sign! The decor was fairly nice, without being overly upscale. To start, we shared the Brazilian Patties. They came in either cod or chicken, so we tried both, and I preferred the cod. For the main course, we split the Moqueca, which was delicious! If you're into fish, this is the way to go. Definitely get the option with the most seafood in it. My only complaint was that the dish was a bit salty for my liking, but I absolutely loved the unique flavor. If you need to tone down the salty taste, go for one of their juices. Highly recommend if you're looking to try something different!
I ate dinner here with friends and their 2y/o son on a weekend. Everybody loved the combination of an enticing menu and a kid-friendly place. Cute decor! The seafood soups were good, although I thought mine (fish) could have used some salt, and I only say that because I usually think restaurant food is oversalted. The desserts were definitely worth leaving room for! If I lived in Cambridge, I'd take all my out-of-town visitors here. Species-neutral restrooms (they don't even care if you're an alien, just wash your hands).
This has to be one of the CUTEST, family-owned restaurants I've visited yet. When you walk in, you feel like family. The decors, the atmosphere, the people - ALL LOVELY! Because I was moving out of Boston, the owners offered me a free entree and wished me luck in my future endeavors. This was such a memorable and heartwarming experience - I'll never forget it. I ordered the seafood mariscada, which came with plantain moqueca. The dish was STACKED with a well-cooked variety of seafood, and its flavor profile was outstanding. The coconut base lent it a creamy texture that complemented the seafood perfectly. I found myself unable to resist its deliciousness! The moqueca added a refreshing, citrusy kick akin to salsa, allowing me to savor a bit of everything in one dish. We also ordered the Feijoada Completa, which was a bit on the saltier side. The meat was very tender and flavorful. If you prefer something saltier, this would be the perfect dish for you! It came with fried plantains, which was SO SO SO yummy! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND VISITING! This has become one of my favorite places in Cambridge, and it was worth EVERY penny!
Absolutely delicious, the fish and shrimp muqueca was amazing and the fried yuca will be a staple in our household. Crab cake was good, as well. Definitely ask for a side of hot sauce if you can do spicy food! Feels very cozy, not at all corporate. Almost like you're part of the family. Definitely worth the price for the food.
I still remember when this place was located on the other side of the street, on a corner and could seat maybe 6 people. I've grown up on this food and it is my number 1 suggestion when people ask me for Brazilian food recommendations in the area. It is not what comes to mind when the average non-Brazilian thinks of Brazilian food, but it's a beautiful representation of the diversity of Brazilian cuisine. You can't go wrong with the fish muqueca. The fried fish is delicious and honestly every dish I've tried is outstanding. The muqueca is the signature dish though and it's what you should get! Get the manja de tapioca for dessert. There's a reason this place has withstood the test of time, it's delicious, lovingly prepared and authentic,
This is a wonderful place for dinner in the area! I highly recommend the lasagna de banana, at least to share. It's cheesy and sweet, crunchy and cheesy, and it's almost like a dessert. The service is relatively attentive, and I enjoy the outdoor space they they open up when it's warmer and dry outside.
An unassuming restaurant at the end of Inman Square stretch of shops and restaurants. Named after their clay pot soup, the restaurant was warm and inviting. Operated by friendly staff, the restaurant was decorated with an assortment of warm feeling colors and wood giving it a homey feel. The seats were full at 830pm and we had to wait 15 minutes to get a table. Fried Plantains - Sweet, caramelized, mushy plantains. Some had crispy edges, I just wished that there was a little crispier to the edges giving the plantains a bit more caramelization and contrast. Still very good. Fried Diced Chicken Bone In - Mostly dark meat but was getting close to very done. It was seasoned properly and so it was tasty. It came with its own creamy sauce which was okay, but much preferred to put on the salsa like thing from the Moquueca. This felt similar to the chicharrones where they over fry the pork belly (chicken in this case). Fish, Shrimp and Mussels Moqueca - The star of the night was the moqueca. Seafood stone bowl soup served with a side of rice and some salsa looking side. The soup had plenty of seafood and vegetables. The tomato and onions were a pleasant accompaniment to the seafood and was a solid base to add seafood to. The salsa was also in a stone bowl. It had a bit tanginess to it and when eaten with the soup, had good contrast in flavor. The salsa was also good on the fried chicken, give it some hydration to help with the dryness and sourness to combat the fried portion. All in all great restaurant, would love to come back if I visit Hardvard or MIT.
